How do you print a handwritten recipe on a towel? ›

Cotton towels, which can come in terry cloth, waffle weave, or flat weave, are great for cleaning up messes or drying hands and dishes. You can get them in just about any color, but if you care about stains on your towels, we recommend getting them in white so they're easy to bleach.

To ensure both functionality and aesthetic appeal, one fabric that stands out is cotton. Cotton tea towels are highly regarded for their absorbency, durability, and softness. They have a remarkable ability to soak up moisture effectively, making them perfect for drying dishes and hands in the kitchen.

One way to transfer a design onto fabric for embroidery is to use a transfer pen or pencil. You can trace the design onto the fabric, and then embroider over it. Another method is to use transfer paper and a photocopier to create a reversed copy of the design, which can then be placed on the fabric and traced.

Slip a sheet of this Carbon Transfer Paper between the tracing paper and your fabric. Pressing hard, trace your writing (I'm using our tracing stylus here) to make an imprint on your fabric. The result? Your writing is right where you want it, all ready to embroider!

The fabric used for towels is typically referred to as Terry. On the borders, the manufacturer may occasionally add rayon. To make towels, terry is the most used fabric, and it is more absorbent than a cotton towel due to the fabric's loops. It is made of uncut loops.

Use a tear-away stabilizer

Whilst you can basically use any stabilizer for towels, using a tear-away stabilizer will give you the tidiest finish.
