BISMARCK TRIBUNE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2023 A5OBITUARIES Florence Maxine Dahlstrom Maxine Dahlstrom, age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2023, in theWishek Living Center at Wishek, North Dakota. Florence was born August 10, 1930, to Em- ory and Selma (Uhlhorn) Johnson at Oakes, North Dakota.She grewupon the family farm west of Oakes, in Clement Township with her parents, 3 sisters and one brother. She was bap- tized and atOur Saviors Lutheran Church in rural Oakes. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Oakes High School in 1948. She pursued her passion for caregiv- ing and entered Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in aReg- istered Nurse in August of 1951.

She moved to Lisbon, North Dakota, in 1952 and began her nursing career as a staffRN in she also served as acting administrator for 3 months. It was there she met Roger Dahlstrom. Florence and Roger were married on June 27, 1954, and they moved Florenceworked as a staff nurse in the Obstetrical Department of Abbott Hospital. In Januaryof 1957, the couplemoved Dakota, where together as a team they would care for people and a community for many years, having es- tablished Dahlstrom Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. In October of 1960, they opened Dahlstrom SkogmoClothingStore.Later an additionwas built on the store, and they added a line of home furnishings.

The store was then known as DahlstromClothing and Furniture.They later sold the store to theFurman family andMark bought the funeral home in 1992. faith was extremely important to her as she was active in various capacities in the Milnor Lutheran Church for many years. She served on the Milnor Park board for 12 years, during which time the community park enlarged, the tennis court was built, a new football was constructed. Shewas instrumental in starting the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, serving as a board mem- ber anddenmother formanyyears.Florence servedon theAdvisory Board of St. FrancisHospital of Brecken- for 6 years, andwas a teammember of the Riveredge Hospice for 10 years.

She worked for theRanson-SargentSeniorServices as a staffRNfor 10 years. Florence was the recipient of the Satellite Club GalaxyAward in 1984.SheandRoger also enjoyed their winterhome formanyyears.Florence loved her nursing and care projects, but amongst her proudestmomentsweredelivering several local babies. Her nursing legacy is secured by having 5 RNs in the family, carriedonbyherdaughter in lawSheri, andher Jordan. Florence is survived by two sons and one daughter; Scott (Sheri) Dahlstrom of Scottsdale, Arizona, Mark Dahlstrom of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Susan (Scott)Maltese leavesbe- Kari Jean, and Jordan, along with 16 great grandchil- dren. She was the last of her family and preceded in death by her husband Roger, her parents and 3 sisters, Ann, Ruth and Sylvia plus her brother Jack.

Funeral services will be held on 3, Interment will be in theMilnorLutheranCemetery.Visitationwill be held one hour prior to services in the church. She spent her early years on a farm inHettinger County, south of Dakota.Growingup in the simplicity of rural ley attended a one-room country schoolhouse before continuingher educationatSt.Mary’sBoardingSchool in New England, North Dakota, for her freshman year of high school.

Her parents then made the decision to sell the homestead farmand relocate the family toBis- marck, where Shirley graduated from St.Mary’s High School. After graduating fromBismarckStateCollege in 1965, Shirleydedicatedherself to caring forherparents, fore- going further studies. Tragedy struck with the loss of her sister, Mary Jane, on June 16, 1966, and brother, Jerry in 1995.Shirley’s resilience andunwavering com- mitment to her familywere evident during these chal- lenging times. On October 20, 1973, Shirley embarked on a new chapter inher life andmarried the loveofher Kemnitz. Together, they recently celebrated their re- markable milestone of 50 years of marriage.

She enjoyed venturing south to California and later Arizona after retirement, enjoying golf and forming lasting friendships. She was deeply grateful for the love and care she received from her family, during her journey.Her resilience and positive outlook on life served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Shirley Kemnitz is survived by her loving husband, side through thick and thin.Shealso Tauger (Chris Tauger), Beth Kemnitz, David Kemnitz (JoAnneKemnitz), andPamEggert leycherished the timespentwithhergrandchildrenand tookgreat joy inwatching themgrow, isonTauger (15), SavanahKemnitz Eggert (9), and Charlie Eggert (7).

Shirley is also sur- vived by her sister-in-law, Jan Jordan; nephew, Mike (Staci) Jordan; and niece, Sue Jordan. Their happiness brought immense to her life. Warren Gorden 72, Minot and formerly of Wilton, died Tuesday, Oc- tober 24, 2023 in his home.

Warren was born June 19, 1951, in Bismarck, ND to Ivan and Vera (Wilson) Gorden. He attended grade in a country school in Ecklund Township of Burleigh County nearWil- ton and graduatedwith the Wilton High School Class of 1969. He attended Bis- marck State College learn- ing the HVAC trade. Warren was united in marriage to Candace DumaonOctober 13, 1973 at First PresbyterianChurch inWilton. They lived in worked for Linton Sheet Metal from 1971-1975, when they moved to Minot.

He took a job with Lane Sheet Metal for eight years and laterWesternSheetMetal for six more years. In 1989, he joined Sheet Metal working for the next years of his life until retiring in 2014 after 44 years of service.Warrenwas a union sheetmetalworker for 39years.Candacepassed away unexpectedly in 2012. Warren was a member of CornerstonePresbyterianChurch inMinot.Healsobe- longed to the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (R.S.E.S.) and servedasPresidentof theSourisChapter inMinot for twoyears.Heenjoyed timeoutdoors camp- ing and boatingwith his wife and family.Hunting and also favorite pastimes away fromwork.He was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan. Warrenwill be remembered for his deep loveof fam- ily, strong faith, perseverance and ingenuity. Warren is survived by his daughter Nicole (Kyle) Wolverton, Minot; not; (Penny) and nephews.Warrenwaspreceded indeathbyhis parents, wife Candace and sister-in-law Beverly Gorden.

He was later blessed with four grandchildren who were the joy of his life. Robert is survivedbyhis chil- dren: Scott Solem (Tammy Hafner) and Susan (Mike) Olson; his four grandsons: Scott Forman, Trenton andhis sisters: Ruth Dschaak and Rita (Mark) Sevier. Hewaspreceded indeathbyhis brother, Richard Solem, and his brother-in-law, Roy Dschaak.
